Vincenzo Joseph finishes Runner-Up at Walsh Ironman Tournament

In what could be called the toughest class of the entire Walsh Ironman Tournament, Vincenzo Joseph went 4-1 to place second. This bracket consisted of five of the top 10 wrestlers in the country and seven of the top 20. Joseph won his first two matches by technical fall. His quaterfinal match was against Luke Fortuna, Montini Catholic IL, who was an Illinois State Runner up last year. Vincenzo won by major decision, 11-3. In the semifinals, Vincenzo squared off against #6 ranked Jordan Kutler of Blair Academy and won 5-1. Joseph faced off against #1 ranked Isaiah White from Oak Park River Forest, IL in the finals. The faceoff of the top two wrestlers in the country at 152 was also a rematch from the USAW Junior Freestyle Finals from this summer. Both wrestlers traded escapes and White defeated Joseph by scoring a takedown with 14 seconds left in overtime.

The Vikings will be back in action on Wednesday December 17 as they host North Hills at 7:00 PM
